MEASURE, MEASURE, MEASURE.

“How’s business Jock?” asked Paddy

“Last time I saw my accountant he said everyfink wis honky dory” replied Jock

“When was that, Jock?”

“Bout tree years ago Paddy, why do you ask”

“Because you can’t pay your bills and that new outfit across town is taking all your customers”

Know any businesses like this? Just asking for a friend of course!

You need to know where you stand financially EVERY MONTH don’t leave it up to your accountant – You are the one responsible.

This is where measurement comes in. Measuring will compare month to month, quarter to quarter and annually to date. More importantly measure your key performance indicators (KPI’s)

KPI’s are a valuable way to know you are increasing rather than decreasing business.

KPI’s will vary from industry to Industry but generally they would be:

  • Profit or loss

  • Gross profit & gross profit percentage (ideal - over 37%)

  • Sales

  • Average daily sales

  • Debtor days (ideal - under 30)

  • Number of new clients per month

  • Visitors to your web site and web site statistics

  • Overheads and cost of sales

  • Adword interaction if you have them

  • Quotes accepted versus quote rejected percentage

Set up a spread sheet - Excel will be your friend - and record your KPI’s month by month

Put in a column for last year’s monthly sales so you can compare.

Any decline in these figures will alert you immediately. If you can explain this – COVID lockdowns, staff illness etc all well and good, but if you can’t you are able to take immediate action.

Don’t be a Jock – measure, measure, measure

  3. 63% of Graphic Designers are female and 37% are male

NEW LAUNCH: KALIN CONTRACTING

Kalin Contracting have been setting the standard now for quite some time.

In fact, from humble beginnings and a 65 Massey Ferguson, Kalin Contracting have been providing support and resources to South Taranaki farmers since 1961.

As a family run business, Alastair and Louise Kalin offer quality services and thus far, there isn’t a job too big or small that they can’t take care of.

For us at About Image, we are always interested in our local Taranaki area and its rich history.
A confession however, we are a bunch of city slickers so developing Kalin Contracting’s website was a wee bit of a learning curve.
But, we’ve happily learnt a lot and had a lot of fun in building their website.

Positive people often yield positive results. Alastair and Louise are very active in supporting their local community. So for us it was a great opportunity to help them and be a part of this this project.

About Image design a LOT of business websites, a lot of websites for clubs and events… a fair amount of restaurant websites and now we are pleased to advise that we now offer ‘farm’ and rural based websites to our services.

If you need assistance with Silage Bales, Grass Silage, Maize Silage and Cultivation (and more), head on over to www.kalincontracting.co.nz and review their offering.

Kalin Contracting: grow. support. deliver

NEW FEATURES: ULTIMATE CONCRETE

It’s been busy days for Ultimate Engineered Concrete.
New products, new projects lead to the need for a revamp of their website.
We’ve added a few new features to simply updating and management and better showcased their products and projects (head on over and check some of their projects, well worth a look).

We’re 100% behind Hayden and his team.
Again, if you’re not familiar with their offering, head on over to www.ultimateconcrete.co.nz and check them out. There’s certainly a wow factor going on right there.

Another local Taranaki business kicking goals.

If you want to take your businesses website up a few levels, then drop us a line 😊

ROUND TWO: TARANAKI BEER FESTIVAL

It’s back!
Due to the over whelming success of last year’s Beer Festival, we are happy to announce that the organisers will again be showcasing over 35 craft breweries from all over New Zealand right here in New Plymouth (TSB Stadium, 31 March & 1 April 2023).

For us at About Image, it was a great opportunity to roll up our sleeves and get involved in another web development project for a great local Taranaki Event. We’ve tweaked a few things here and there from last year… a mighty fine-looking website for a fantastic event.

We recommend heading over to www.taranakibeerfestival.co.nz to learn more. Based on last year’s demand, might be a good idea to get your tickets early 😉

As Taranaki locals - we really enjoy promoting local events and activities, if you need assistance with your next event, club or sports team then why not come on in and say hello and see how we can help?
